Lures

The 5 inch Doodle Bug is our smallest surface popper and weighs in at 65g, making it ideal for short to medium range work. The design is completely different to most standard popper shapes and came about almost by accident when a much larger lure that one of our consultants was testing got chopped in half by a large Baracuda!

As it was one of the only lures he had he continued to fish with half a lure and found it actually produced a totally unique action and a great response – and so the Doodle Bug was born! Since then we have refined the shape and it has become a favourite with our consultants and skippers.

Although it can be used in virtually any conditions we have found the Doodle Bug particularly effective when fishing around shallower marks that are strewn with rocks and boulders. It works best when retrieved at a fast but erratic pace, bouncing momentarily out of the water.

The Doodle Bug has been fitted with a pair of 2/0 XXX treble hooks which have been chemically sharpened and really are the strongest available. To ensure a secure fitting, we have selected to use top quality XXX three turn split rings.

The Fat Boy is 7 inches long with a body weight of 100g and casts like a bullet! It is rear weighted to not only fly straight and true but also to lie in the water at an aggressive angle and it can be induced to pop with a short, sharp action of the rod tip.

The Fat Boy works brilliantly in rough seas with large waves as it creates a lot of surface noise and sends out a deep resonant vibration for predators to home in on. It’s best fished at high speed, momentarily breaking through the surface layers to replicate a fleeing bait fish.

The Fat Boy has been furnished with a pair of 4/0 XXX treble hooks which have been chemically sharpened and are the strongest available. These are attached to the lure with a three turn XXX split ring.

We have carefully selected what we believe to be the most successful colours for this type of lure: REDHEAD, DORADO and BLUE MACKEREL.

The Top Stick is 7 inches in length and is ideally suited for calmer seas with lazy rolling waves. With a casting weigh of 75g it is perfectly balanced and casts straight and true; it lies in the water at a less aggressive angle than the Fat Boy and can be worked at a much slower rate whilst still giving off a fantastic popping sound with attractive short bursts of displaced water.

We have found that this lure is particularly good at targeting predators that aren’t in a particularly aggressive mood and it has the ability of tempting them into a strike because of its irresistible action. We recommend that the Top Stick is retrieved in a slow but erratic motion to maximise disturbance and sound for the predators to home in on.

The Top Stick has been furnished with a pair of 2/0 XXX treble hooks which are super sharp and amazingly strong. These are attached to the Popper via a XXX three turn split ring.

Our colour selection consists of REDHEAD, PILCHARD and the ever popular GREEN MACKEREL that is ideally suited for this evocative lure.

This is a fantastic sub surface lure for Wahoo, King Mackerel and even Sailfish when trolled in combination with surface lures up to eight knots.

The Stalker is very adept at cast and retrieve from the shore or drifting boat. It can be worked down to about ten feet in depth and also performs brilliantly on a downrigger set up. Equipped with XXX 1/0 hooks and XXX split rings and a thick walled ABS body it is available in Redhead, Firetiger and Blue Mackerel.

The Henchman is a very adaptable lure being at home for both cast and retrieve as well as trolling up to eight knots of speed. It has a diving depth in excess of 20ft and has all of the same characteristics of this range with a thick walled ABS body, XXX 2/0 hooks and XXX split rings.

The Henchman is available in Redhead, Firetiger and Crawfish.

This is the largest lure in the range and is perfect for trolling from medium to high speed up to ten knots. The Deep Demon has a diving depth in excess of 30ft and is fitted with two XXX 5/0 heavy duty treble hooks attached to the body with XXX 3 wrap split rings. The body and diving lip is made from thick walled ABS and is virtually bullet proof even with toothy predators like Wahoo and Barracuda.

The TD Shad range is offered in two simple modes; floating and sinking. All at 9cm long the floating lures will dive to a depth of 1m where as the sinking models will search the full depth.
The patented Gravity Oscillating System (GOS) shifts the centre of gravity of each lure to the tail during casting. This is thanks to a travelling tungsten ball inside the lure. As soon as the retrieve commences the ball rolls a precise balance point inside to produce optimum lure wobble.

The TD Pencil is weighted within its tail to float down at an angle, representing a weakened fish, gasping at the surface. When jerked, the patented opened gill design forces air and water through the gill plates as well as splashing it forward. A subtle built in rattle sound also helps attract attention!

The sinking tail feature of the Saltiga Pencil imitates a weakened or injured fish that is gasping for air at the surface. Its 3-D scale design, natural eyes and Daiwa's patented open-gill design turn in an irresistible combination of appearance and activity.
The through-wire construction anchors your line and hooks to a single heavy-strand wire for maximum durability.

The dual cup design creates a wide, noisy splash with maximum sound while three rattles add to the commotion. Through-wire and a multiple-rib body design provide extreme durability needed for larger game. Natural looking eyes and the 3-D scale design add to the lures realism.
